Default Directed to Illinois/Chicago land area.(Other people can help to)

Alrite I failed emissions testing today. THE DETAILS: I have a 2000 civic hatch and a b16a which is obd1. The place failed me because they couldn't get an obd scan because Im obd1. I have no idea on how to get around this without an obd2. The ecu is a stock p30. Has anyone had this problem and how did they get around it?

Register it down south. There are no emissions tests about 30 miles south of Champaign. They don't even ask you to prove your address... you just have to have an address to give them. Find somebody in a local club who doesn't mind emailing you when you get mail from the DMV - cause it will go there.

if you have a 00 hatch, just pick up an OBD2b ECU from the SI, rig up the secondary O2 sensor with a simulator and jumper the crank fluctuation sensor and go for the test.
when you're done put back in your OBD2-OBD1 harness and the P30 and no more worries.

sorry for throwing another response in here...
In IL, a 2000 car must have an OBD2 ECU. There is no way around that.

the good news, the actual testing is really easy, they simply make sure there are no codes set and pressure test your gas cap and you drive out. 5 minutes tops.

OBD1 cars are a pain to have tested. At least until feb 1.
