axle broke off in intermediate shaft(pics) Cant get it out! Need Ideas!
Here are some pics of my issue, basically no matter what i could not get it off from underneath the car, so i pulled out the entire intermediate shaft to try and get an idea of whats going on, need some help guys! thanks

haha, you cant pull on the axle because, as you can see it will slide out of the cv-joint, like what happened there, it's not broken, anyhow try also putting some penetrating oil in there and hammer on intermediate shaft a little to loosen things up, also it is imperative that the intermediate shaft is mounted or being held securely while you are hammering on the axle, the initial shock is what will break it loose, if it slides around at all while you are hammering on the axle it won't come out
Yep what he said above me. It needs to be held still to be able to knock it out if not your just wastin your energy. I got me a lil chisel and tapped all around it too loosen it up and it just came out. Did it with my friends axle recently had the same problem as you too.
ya crowbar and a hammer.. works great... the vibrations that the hammer send through the metal will actually help break it loose.. :D

well I reattached it and still nothing, chiselled all around it hammered it, still nothing, this axle had been bad and knocking for a good amount of time, its probably just stuck good, I had a dream last night that I attached a rope to it and used 2 cars to pull it out lol, im actually thinking that may be a good idea
did ypu try putting the imtermediate shaft in a vise grip to hold it still
while you hammered the **** out of the axle?
while you hammered the **** out of the axle?
why dont u just stick a pry bar between the inboard joint and the intermediate shaft, then pry it and hit it with a hammer.
you will generate far more force on it with a pry bar and a hammer, than hammering directly on the joint.

Here is how I've always got it off (red arrows showing where to pry, and yellow thing representing a large screwdriver/prybar, then just give it a good whack)

Good luck (yes, very helpful if its mounted in the car, i would imagine)
