Default What are the differences between a D16y7 block and a D16y8?

Does anyone know what the differences between these blocks are other than the pistons?

Thanks!

it kinda like EX vs DX...y7 has a vtec head and a better intake manifold/chamber. as for the y8 non vtec and no chamber...it look like TB is coming right out of the runners on the intake manifold.

Maybe I should rephrase the question. “I’m looking to replace the block in my D16Y8 and was wondering if there are any major differences between a D16Y7 short block and D16Y8 short block other than the piston like the crankshaft, oil pump, rods, etc?”

man you guys got your numbers all screwed up

d16Z6 - obd1 vtec

d16Y8 - obd2 Vtec

as far as i know the bare block on the d16y7 adn y8 are the same. the difference is the oil passage.. the head .. intake mani.

should be totally interchangable for whaterve youre wanting to do

im pretty sure the bottom ends on the y7 and y8 are nearly the same crank and rod wise, the Y7 piston has 3.32mm dish , Y8 piston has 2.12mm dish

the y7 uses a steal oil pan the y8 uses an aluminum
also to find more info on d-series you may want to chk out d-series.org
