Spindle nut question for removing front brake disk, need answer ASAP!
Ok is it necesarry to remove the spindle nut when removing the front disks? If so, what are some tricks to getting that sucker off quick? I do NOT have access to any air tools.
Yes, you will need to remove it if you want to remove the knuckles. I use a breaker bar + the handle from the floor jack (cheater bar).
Edit: You don't have to remove the nut, if just removing the rotors.

If you only want to remove the front rotors, then no. To remove the front rotors you will need to take the caliper off, and the caliper brakcet. Then the 2 small screws holding the rotor to the hub.

yes but don't forget he will have to use impact driver to remove the screws on the rotors. or he can strip the hell out of the them like i did when i did my very first brake job.

Oh I didn't forget, I just don't know what exactly he needs to do. That's why I didn't even tell him what size sockets he needs to remove the caplipers and brackets.

The nut does not need to be removed, but the screws that hold the rotor on probably need to be removed with an impact driver (not an air tool)

OR you could use vise grips on a screwdriver. Attach to the handle, put your weight into it, and turn. Comes loose every time for me

I got an impact screwdriver from pep boys for about 11 bucks. Worked great, the screws came out with two taps of the hammer on the screwdriver.
