How do I get my shift linkage off? Cable LS tranny *dumb question*
So Im parting my car out and pulling the block and tranny out from the shell. I take a gander at the shift linkage and loosen the one bolt. Then I see there is the other bar but I see no way in getting it off so I can take the tranny and block out.
There are no screws, no nuts, wtf?
Its not the circluar end, its the other.
I know Im dumb, but I need some help

Roll Pin, you need a roll pin remover AKA a punch or use what I always have around AC bracket bolts, works like a charm. Pull back the rubber boot and you'll see a silver clip ring take that off and your at the roll pin
hit that pin off

u can either use the pin remover or what i use is a long 10mm bolt and place it on the pin and hit it off with a heavy hammer. a girly tap won't hit it out, that pin is expanded in there so you have to hit it off hard

Okay, I was kind of thinking that one. I gave it a few taps before, but now I know I need to give it a good hit. Thanks
it will take more than just a good hit. It will take you some time. It has to be on there pretty perfect. But it will come out if you just keep hitting it.

Drop the tranny with the shift linkage attached. When it's on the floor it's easier to put a socket below (to support the shift shaft) then hammer away from above.

Aren't these slightly tapered?
I've done them a few times...never had a problem. Guess I'm lucky. I utilized the skinny bolt method myself, works like a charm.
BTW...Speedinghatch....I'm VERY interested in buying the si shell from you, unfortunately I am a brand new user and this lame rule about no pm'ing or posting in some of the forums is getting on my nerves.
I finally have the money to put towards my project, but my current hatch has frame damage
I really would like to start over on a good chassis.
If anyone could pass the message on, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That pin was a biatch when I first did it to. Now that pin is easy to get off. What you need is a pair of pliers to hold a 12mm bolt and a 3lbs or higher hammer. A few whacks will get it out no problem.
