Default race clutch on cable tranny??

whats the truth behind this. Ive heard mixed reports on solid 6 puck clutches on cable tranies??.

1)heard that the tranny chatters so much that it makes the crank walk
2)that it streches the cable??

whats the truth

1 i highly doubt that

2 it depends on how heavy your pressure plate is.. i personally havent heard of any stories where the cable has stretched

I have a 6 puck no sprung with a pretty heavy plate. Chatter like crazy sometimes. Don't get a heavy pressure plate. I broke one cable and the pedal itself. Not fun. Get something else for sure. I am going to replace mine for sure. btw, they don't sell new pedals at the dealership anymore for 90-93 integras.

my friend has the un-sprung act 6-puck, never had a problem

the cable issue proabably depends on the condition of the cable, after time everything will wear out

im running a dual diaphram pp with a street disk..i love the combo because no chatter/smooth engage and nice pedal pressure (on the heavy side though)

i dont really mind if i break a cable or pedal, they are pretty easy to change

Sounds like a good Combo. As for the pedal and cable, yes, its not that hard to change, but just think about where it could break and how much of a hassle. I had to drive home in 4th gear and still had to tow it becuase I couldn't make some turn. And when the pedel broke I almost got onto the freeway and it was like 12 something at night and it took a long time to get a tow truck.

I was running a 6 puck and heavy plate on my YS1. The black clutch cable arm on the tranny snapped.

well dayme from the sound of it....seems the solid 6 isnt a everyday clutch. what about the sprung??? its amazing that ACt doesnt even make a sprung 6 for the 90-91

i broke a cable on my 6puck when i installed it but liek someone said, it's old and worn. got a new one and i have no problems. i kept breaking the throwout bearing spring too..it would last a couple weeks than snap...found out it was installed wrong, it wasn't seating on the groove correctly.

You dont HAVE to have the pedal for a 90-93 only i have done auto manual swaps and used other pedals for it.
