What is the rpm supposed to be going 70mph for an auto D16y8? I thought it was around 2800rpm, but when I looked at it this morning going to work it was like 3100rpm instead. Anyone know for sure? I'm thinking something is wrong with the lock up soleniod.
that is hard to determine, because depending on engine load, if you are in overdrive, as you slowly push the gas, it pulls the tranny out of overdrive, and into a shorter gear to accellerate, until you let off of the pedal, in whic hcase it determines a hold in speed, and should turn overdrive back on, dropping the RPM's to a slightly lower level, it over drives the tranny for gas mileage when your not acellerating.

IC what you are saying. I will check today and see, but what about the lock-up soleniod? Wouldn't that play a factor somewhat if it wasn't working properly and causing the torque converter not to lock up?
