Default Poor Mans ITR Build

Hey, Im looking into doing a "Poor mans ITR build" GSR Bottom SiR Head

Will this make decent power? Im getting the block for free from my brother, he's taking it out of his hatch to replace it with a B20 bottom, needs piston rings, thinking of changing them to ITR pistons...

and for now just use the sir head stock internals ... most likely i/h/e hopefully a throttle body and intake mani as well ...

I've never really been a fan of poor mans R as I feel GSR head is great.

So you are aiming for a nice bolt on motor?

yeah pretty much so... im still in highschool ... my d16y7 is f**Ken gutless!!! and my bro said i can take his gsr bottom, sir heads go for pretty cheap ... so yeah

and the gsr internals i dont plan on keeping stock FOREVER... and the sir head is the same as type r, jsut different internals ... so itsl ike a cheap type r head and can be 1 if u use the R internals or even go aftermarket then uhave a built b16 head lol ...

I am purchasing a poor mans type r swap this weekend! I am not going to be building it though, because i will boost later on. But if you throw type r pistons in the gsr block, and throw type r internals into the b16 head, voila you have the exact same as a type r motor. Stock thought, the b16 head only drops the compression like .1 or .2 so its nothing. Would be a good setup for boost though. Anyways, good luck with the setup.

If you already have the bottom end just sitting there you might as well build it now rather than putting it in and having problems with the piston rings, ultimately giving you a slow b-series swap. You would be better off with having something thats fast and reliable than with nothing at all if you decide not to rebuild it, no matter how slow the sohc can be.

The head isn't just different with the internals, its also different with the ports being bigger on an ITR Head.

for the price difference between the stock pr3 and an itr pr3 you can build up the stock head to outperform the itr piece
