at high rpm my car sputters its kinda like i hit the rev limiter , but im not doing that . it winds up and like sputters down to a lower rpm

 

is it automatic or manual??

 

i bet its breaking up, get a new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires and come back and tell us if its still doing it

ignition is breaking up, spark blow out any number of things, getting the things i stated will rule out a lot of possibilites

awesome ,i was thinking along these lines i just wanted to hear what you guys believe it could be ..... its only at high rpm so aslong as i drive like an old lady i should be fine right ??? could this be a serious problem where i shouldnt drive the car till its solved??

 

well it defiantly sounds ignition related, and yea its fine to drive just keep it out of the upper rpm range untill you get some new stuff, if those parts i listed dont fix it you might look inot getting a new coil/ignitor

 

Did it throw an engine code?

 

 

well 16 years later im sure it threw a code haha some new guys never check the dates when they respond to a thread haha
