y8 head on y7 block
I have a y8 head, dizzy, and ecu, and want to put it on my y7 block. i know i need to change the iacv wires and add vtec wires, BUT im not sure about what to do with a knock sensor. The y8 and the D17's are the only SOHCs that use them. I was wondering if there was a way from me to trick the computer into making it think i have a knock sensor. Also, I dont have a throttle body, but im thinking i can use and sohc vtec or any b-series throttle body and it can work, is this correct? as long as it has the tps sensor on it? please let me know what i need to do, and if anyone knows of a link of somewhere that i can get a ecu pinout so i know where to remove and add wires i would appreciate it, i found one, but im not sure how reliable it is. every picture i find is of a p28 z6 head swap, i would really like a y8 swap
well first off just crossover to the darkside(obd1) and run a p28 the dont look for knock sensor. that will solve that prob. and as for the link here u go...http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=32971 that shoud tell you everthing.... good luck i amabout to do it to..i got the y8 head, mani, tb, jumper harness 0bd2b-obd1, and the p28 ecu. you also might wanna get the y8 tranny.
I dont have the extra money to get the p28, that link was very helpful though. thank you. im just wondering how to plug a knock sensor into the block and trick the computer now, any one know?
just a helpful link may not help at all...https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=735196
thats a really good link, thats the actuall y7 y8 swap... ive been looking for that... now if i could just find out what i need to do with a knock sensor... in that link he said he didnt need one, but i dont think vtec engages without it does it?

Hondata can remove the knock sensor in the ECU, or so I've heard

2.Screw it into the already tapped hole in the block(im pretty sure y7&y8 blocks r identical besides the pistons)
3.Plug the one wire it has into the ecu.
DONE! </TD></TR></TABLE>
Althogh I'd recommend that way

can i use any sohc vtec throttle cable? as long as its on a manifold that sits the normal way instead of up and down like mine? will i need to change all the brackets too?

you may have to use just one bolt instead of 2 on the cable holder and move the bracket over one...but that should fit fine...same cable 'n all
so w/ O's being open holes and X's being filled hole, isntead of this:
__X___X___|
You'll have
_____X___| O
If that makes sense
