"Battery" idiot light turning on.........
My battery light came on the other day. My first thought was thge battery so I cleaned up the terminals and checked the wires. The warining still came on. Then I took the battery out (not sure how old it is but it came with the car, I've owned the car for 2 years) and brought it to Autozone and it tested OK according to them. I figured up next was the Alternator and I took it out and also had it tested and it tested OK. So I reintalled it and it was alright for a couple of days (batt light did not come on).
Well tonight I was driving it and the batt light would come on at 2K rpm's then it was 2500, then 3K. Finally it got to the point where the radio would cut out and my light were dimming.
This has to be the alternator right?

Nope..I dont think it would cause that. If your alt were going out you would be dead, and the battery charge would be low. Your not throwing any codes?
My friends GSR hatch was doing the same thing. His main relay was going out.
You could also have a loose ground some where..GL

That's what I'm thinking? Anybody else have any suggestions? I checked the ground when I had the alt out and it looked fine.

See if you can have them test the alternator under load, it seems like the battery/alt are providing enough power at idle and up to a certain rpm, but once under sufficient load, the alternator is having a tough time providing enough power.

disconnect your batter ground and see if the alternator can keep up with the current needed. iding and try revving the motor up. this is sort of a tell-tale sign that the alternator is on it way out. If it shuts off you know it needs replacing.
