Default speedometer problems

Wassup everybody, I’m new to the forum so excuse me if this thread has been posted/answered before.
I just picked up a ’94 db7 LS, but the problem is that my speedometer doesn’t work 99% of the time… when I’m driving, the meter will shoot up to the speed I’m cruising at, but then a couple seconds after, it’ll just die out again. Does anybody know what the problem could be? and how could it be fixed? Any help would be great!

maybe this might help??

someone said in the thread above that 99% of speedo problems are VSS related.

other than your vss, i can't think of anything besides a wire or your gauge cluster being at fault.

if you figure out the problem be sure to let us know what it was!

ok, i finally got a chance to take a look at the speedometer problem with one of my friends. and he confirmed that it's a vss problem. especially when the check engine light started coming up. we checked the plug, it's straight, no problems there, the wiring is straight, so that leaves me with just the vss...

so does anybody know how much a vss runs for a '94 DB7?

i've bought parts from a guy on here named TYPERman2001. he's a good seller. i recently asked him how much he'd sell a b-series vss to me and he said $55 shipped. i never ended up needing it though..

if you havent done it already, try finding a friend with the same vss as yours and swap real quick to make sure you actually need a replacement.
