Default K-pro or SAFC

I know that I am eventually going to get a K-pro for my '03 Type S, but right now I am more interested in doing other upgrades before that such as:
-Valve train
-Bottom end
-Crank and pistons.

Right now I have a cold air intake and was holding off on exhaust until I go forced induction or decide to go N/A all the way with a stroker kit or up the compression.

I want to get something that I can tune small stuff like air and fuel with but not pay alot for it untill the K-pro.
My question is for people who have delt with the an apexi or other brand of VAFC SAFC. I am looking at this one by A'pexi.
http://www.apexi-usa.com/produ...Num=1

If you have or currently own one what do you think of it and what are some of it's capabilities.

quit being' a bitch lolz.... get k-pro

I went from (on ITR basemap) 200whp 137tq to 225 whp 155 tq with a fat band of tq (dynojet) with K-pro tuning

k20a-R + RBC IM + Hytech Header... dyno tune is a must to hit spark & cam angles right

check allmotor forum - dyno registry (stickied) for graph

I got my K-pro from Norris Prayoonto on k20a.org for $850 + core ecu... got it back in 3 days

K-PRO, because its more programmable than the VAFC or SAFC from APEXi.

Plus you get the reliability of Hondata.

Just my $.02

I understand that the K-Pro is better and that tuning is they key to any amount of power but I don't have the money right now for the K-Pro and on top of that I wouldn't have the money right now to tune it either. It is going to be ahwile before I can really start to get things like forced induction that will involve an amount of tuning, that is why I am going to do the head work first with the valve train because I can do that myself.

Right now I just want something that I can do minor tuning with, lower v-tec and do in my back yard becuase I am on a slim budjet. Like I said,i t will probably be ahwile before I get anything big that really needs tuning.

I appreciate the input but I guess my real question is that with the computer in the type s and how touchy it is would it be worth it to get th VAFC in the early stages to do minor tunes or would I be fighting a loosing battle.

But why pay 500 bucks for a VAFC and harness, when, with that 500 bucks, youd be well on your way to a better system.

Example: Why would I spend 5 grand on a turbo setup, to get 200WHP on my EM2, when I could put that money into a K20x, and start with 200 RELIABLE whp?

Doesnt make money "cents".

it's worth it to hold out and buy K-Pro. And if you take the time to read and watch the vids that come on the CD and from the website, you can figure out how to do street tuning on your own. You need to be able to make sense of things, which I can't, so I don't tune my own car.

Depending on your area there are people, like CRSX members who can street tune for cheap as well. Depending on your application. NA w/ bolt ons, you can figure it out. Boost, go to a pro.

I have looked and where I live there ain't a thing tuner wise, it's nothin but ricer hell, but it never hurt to learn how to do it first hand.

Preciate the input and it looks like that K-pro or go home. Thanks again guys.

If nothing else, if you have KPro and find someone else with it and has the same or similar mods, you may be able to use their tune.

Like I'm selling off my turbo kit, and if they have KPro, I'll include the tune, which is about $600 worth right there as long as they don't upgrade to a bigger turbine or injectors.
