Default Bolts that hold the 98spec Header Bracket to the Block

Well when i went to fit the 98spec header bracket, i removed the old one that was on the car but when i undid the left hand side bolt it was already pretty loose..

So i fitted the new bracket and when i tried doing the bolt up, it just kept spinning in the hole? I used thread-lock (glue) to try and hold it in but this didnt last long! (But it sorted my manifold vibration).

Anyway now im a bit stuck as i need to get a bolt in that hole, but i dunno what to do?

The bolt is 22mm long, and the hole is quite a bit longer, so would a longer bolt work?

Any ideas?

Sounds like the treads have been stripped. You could try to fix it with tap or helicoil.

Are you talking about the bolts that hold the header to the head?

Sorry if i wasnt clear

Basically the bolt on the left (screwed into the block) just keeps spinning! Just wondering what to try without making it worse.

Whats a helicoil, not heard of that over here in the UK

Thanks

Def sounds like stripped threads. If you say the hole is a lot deeper than the bolt is long, I would try a slightly longer bolt (but not too long). You could probably catch the threads that are left and the back of the hole. If this doesn't work you will have to Heli-Coil it. Heli-coil is a thread replacement. All you do is drill the hole out, use a tap to cut new threads, then insert the Heli-Coil and you have brand new threads. They have worked well for me because unfortunatly it seemed like ever thread on my block was ripped out. I Heli-coiled them and it worked great.

Helicoil is a spring like looking thing that is used sometimes when you have a stripped screw hole.

So does it thread you a new hole with bigger threads, i.e you need a bigger bolt?

Only problem is, its lacking room in there!

No, you drill a bigger hole and thread it, then when you insert the Heli-coil it will match the original bolt in size and thread pitch.
