Won't start right after shutting motor off
I tried searching and didn't find anything. Sometimes the car won't start right after shutting the motor off. I'll hit the starter and it'll start back up. Happens a lot at the gas station. I was thinking it was the starter but if it was the starter then it probably wouldn't start when the motor is cold. What's your opinion. Thanks.
Next time it happens... Try unplugging the ECT sensor, and try to start it again. Doing this will throw a code tho. If it starts right up, then chances are the ECT is on it's way out, and is sending bogus signals to the ECU.
When Starters die they die slow. My starter would sometimes not crank when I turned the key, then it would. It had it's good and bad days. Then eventually it took like 30 tries for it to crank and by that time I knew I had to replace it or risk getting stranded when the thing finally gave up on life. So could still be the starter. Cuz if I stalled my car I couldn't turned it back on right away, took like 10-15 seconds or more for it to work again.
How long do you have to wait before it will restart? How do you get it restarted? Does the starter click when you turn the key? Are the battery cables tight and in good shape? (Not corroded) Do you have dash light when it acts up? Sorry about all the questions, more information is needed.

I'm not sure how long I'd have to wait because I never wait. I'll hit the starter a few times and it'll start back up. Only reason I don't think it's the starter is because wouldn't it be a constant problem and not only when the motor is shut off and within a few minutes turned back on. Battery cables are in good shape and there is no corrosion. I have dash lights (not dim). Thanks.
