Default Brake dust shields

Just wondering if any of you guys have a picture of the itr brake dust shields. The one on the car has some weird bends and i think its creating noise, but i dont want to bend it untill i see how other itr shields are. Anyone happen to have a pic?

they bend away in one place. If they're not hitting the rotor they should be fine.

But yeah, ditch 'em

No, not really ... well, not that you'll notice anyways.

Makes for much better cooling of the rotors though

and you could always replace them with diff pads that reduce the dust off

Any recommendations? From what I've read around here, the OEM pads are the best balance between performance and dusting (or lack thereof).

The real decision is to use one for daily driving & switch to another for performance. Other than autocross, the OEM's don't hold up for crap on a track.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but once I removed the dust shields the discs seemed to stay cooler, by quite a bit. (They would be alot cooler to touch when working on them after driving.

I still burn my finger if I touch mine after a spirited drive.

Well that's stating the obvious, but in general they seem to run alot cooler.

I would only suggest the above on an R that is driven on the track.

Prove it

I've had mine off for awhile now and can't honestly say they seem to be any cooler on the street. In any case, there is no harm in removing them.

Melting ABS sensor wiring FTL!

While Honda engineers put them there for a reason, it seems that nobody has had a problem with them off, so you should be fine.

Huh? Has that happened to you? I don't have ABS in my car, but do you KNOW of someone who melted their abs wiring? They are dust shields, not heat shields. The only ABS I've seen has been on a SAAB and the sensor is attached to the pad, which is well past the dust shield.
