Default oil weight in B18C1 5W20 vs. 5W30

I'm changing the oil in my B18C1 and accidentally picked up 5W20 at the store instad of 5W30. I know it's not recommended for this engine, but will it cause any damage? Has anyone run this weight oil in a GS-R engine?

I don't really feel like going back to return it, heh.

Personally I wouldn't put it in and I would go change it to the rigth weight. 5w20 is a thinner oil compared to 5w30. I am not sure if it would do any damage but I wouldn't be surprised.

I hope someone helps you out a little more!!

im not sure if you guys are aware of readings on oil but 5w20 and 5w30 both have the same viscousity when at operating temperature.

its the 20 and 30 thats for winter. in the winter 5w20 will be thinner then the 5w30

personally, i run 15w40 stops my engine from leaking so much

No wonder you are a trial member. Hopefully it will stay that way.

To the OP, as 93Si has stated, i'd just return it and exhange it.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. From what I'm reading, Honda recommends 5w20 in most of their new cars since it slightly improves fuel economy by being thinner. However, I didn't see it recommended for any vehicle with a B-series, and nobody here seems to have run it, so I might as well just get the right spec.
