89 si tranny problems
i have an 89 SI... 161K, auto tranny... and no, i don't want to do a swap right now. if i had the money and the means, i would... but right now the lude's a beater...
i can go down the road and i almost redline before the tranny even thinks of going into 2nd. S3 doesn't work anymore when i downshift and S2 is VERY sluggish. if i try taking off in S2 the car bogs down and i hear a bumping noise and it finally clunks forward and starts accelerating. i notice that when i start out, or when i try and downshift into S3 my lights next to the gear shift cut in and out like there's a short.
could there be an electrical problem or is the tranny just trash?

. . . bump. i really don't want to shell out $1000 for a tranny when it's a simple electrical problem or something. if that's even possible. i have no problem getting the transmission fixed, it's just i need to get some advice first.
