For AutoX...Kumho Ecsta V700. Should I get heat cycled or no?
Well, it's mainly for the use of Autox. About a dozen this year and also 4-6 events of lapping days. They cost an extra $15 more each and I wonder if it's a good buy compare to full thread. A thread early indicate that the new V700 takes longer to heat up, so it's not good for short autox runs...would the heat cycled ones help on this issue?
Thanks, need to order them asap, please responde.

It is my understanding that heat cycling a tire prior to racing on it will make it last longer (for reasons the engineer types can explain about the structure of the rubber). Pretty much the question is "Do I have tire rack do it for me or do I do it myself?".

My suggestion would be to run full tread, heat cycled tires for autocross. And, if you don't shave them, use them a few times before you put them on the road course for lapping days so that there is less of the original tread.
Got a link to a brief-run down on how to heat-cycle a tire?

Summary..
Heat Cylcing increase "grip life" will not make the tires last any longer, but for the life they do have....they will be stickier longer..
unheatcycled tires won't be as sticky for as long as heat cycled tires
Shaving is helpfull when they is a lot of tire squirm, the tread is moving a lot. This causes the tire to overheat which causes blistering and chunking.
For Autocrossing you would probably benefit a little bit from heat cycling... but not shaving.
this info came from a tech session in san diego where a kumho rep was discussing heat cycling and shaving

A couple questions:
A heat cycled tire requires less/no warm-up time and will have the traction of a heated/warmed-up tire out-of-the-box right?
Will heat cycling generally make tires last longer?
Why would shaved as opposed to non-shaved tires be better for lapping?
Why would shaved be better for Auto-X?
TIA

Hoosier has their own guidelines on their site. I've heard that tires done by the Tire Rack show no visible sign of reaching race temps. I find it hard to believe that that is then the equivalent of 7 progressively faster laps with the last being at top speed. Hoosier then says leave them sit for about a week - and that 24 hours is as good as nothing.
