why not do it yourself and save the money for upgrades, its really not hard. And it depends on what your talking about. Which b16, what shape is the motor in, etc.

Yeah, give some details. There's a shop about 40 mins from my town that does b16 swaps for around $350 I've heard of some that'll do it for $200 and beer.

I got gen 1 B16A complete engine, tranny, PWO ECU, Axles, Knuckles, shift linkage, motor mounts for an EF, complete wiring harness and some misc extras.
Also had AEM cam gears on it and a mint aftermarket clutch.

Paid 800.00 plus 300.00 to ship from San Diego to New Mexico. And I got to see it running in march.

But then I bought a 2000 SI hydro tranny with LSD for 850.00 shipped sooooooooo.

2.5 - 4k

Don't spend any more htan 4k on a B16 tranny + installation, that's way too much...although I'd still recommend doing it yourself, it's easier than you may think, one day is all it takes if you've never done it before...

I found a b16 with tranny, shift linkage, axles, ecu, and wiring harness for 1200 bucks. I'm prolly going to pick it up, then do an auto/manual conversion. then have some fun.

from what I've seen in the past few years on the boards, you can get them for 1-3k, and installed, anywhere between 1.2-4k just depends on who you go to, their reliability, their name, if they're busy, what they charge, and what area you'rue in

I would go poor man's type-r and install it myself. I don't know **** about engine swapping and I'm confident I could do the changeover myself. Maybe a few friends and a hydrolic lift to move the motor.

This boy is your new hero. It's way too easy to find someone from honda-tech in Socal that will help you swap it for beers & pizza.
Oh yeah, and spend the extra smacks for the gsr, what? an extra 20 hp & 20 tq?

just finished my b16a swap I will break it down
I am sure you can get this done cheaper but I only buy new honda and acura parts, so consider this an extreme

jdm b16a Engine Tranny ECU (170hp LSD low miles) hmotorsonline shipped- $2400
reused three upper mounts -$0
new rear bracket -$85
new torque mount bracket r/f -$85
koyo dual core radiator -$200
upper and lower radiator hoses- $70
throttle cable- $50
shift linkage (hasport)- $150
Dx wiring conv. harness (hasport)- $79
New Timing Belt & Water Pump -$120
axles- $200
I Bought New Mount Bolts, Bitch Pin, bolts for linkage etc. $40
Fluids (One break in conv. oil change and a synthetic oil change, honda mtf, honda power steering, etc) $90
Fuel Injection Feed Hose -$180
Knock Sensor (Broken Putting Engine In ) $85
Various Other Parts $50
Header gasket and exhaust donut gasket $30
Iridium Plugs $25
HoseClamps $14
Radiator Cap $15

STUFF THAT WASNT NEEDED, BUT IS SMART WHILE THE ENGINE IS OUT
ACT Stage1 Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel $500
Energy Suspensions Mount Inserts $50
Energy Suspensions Shift Linkage Kit $25
AEM Pulley Kit $150
DC Sports Header $250

I did this swap mostly by myself, but on occasion when i had help, I had to buy my helpers food, so budget for this. I have a large collection of tools, but i needed to make 2 $100 dollar runs to sears to buy what i needed, (pickle fork, punch set, huge pry bar, etc.) So make sure you have a standing budget in your account for extra tools or stuff you may break. Also consider fixing anything else while engine is out of car, like for instance I changed my timing belt/ water pump, put new strut mounts in, etc. I am sure I am forgeting some major stuff hear so all of the veterans can correct me or add anything in here if i missed something

Total $ Before bolt ons- approx. $3968
Total With EVERYTHING (Bolt ons, tool trips, food)- approx. $5193
