I have a oil pan leak on my turboed b16. I didn't have this problem before I installed the turbo. Its a fully bulit motor with new everthing and dart sleeves ( NOT A DART BLOCK). I have changed the oil pan gasget and I still have the same problem. Some how I get the feeling that the gasget is not the problem. Can anyone help? And btw I have searched and I didn't see anything with my problem.

 

Where is it leaking from specifically? Where the block meets the pan? Do you have a breather setup?

 

yes is leaking where the block and the pan meet and I have the stock breather setup

prolly getting excess crankcase pressure, blowing the gasket, try setting up a catchcan [correctly] and see if that solves the problem, you will need to replace the oil pan gasket though :/

[its not an uncommon problem on boosted setups]

 

I'm with turbotime. I was having block-to-pan gasket problems as well with the stock PCV system. The Endyn setup is great IMO, and will greatly relieve all the excess pressure. Try not to inhale the fumes too much though

 

What did you torque the hardware on the pan too?

 

even at idle i get a nasty leak where my p30 oil pump meets the b18b block at the intersection of the oil pan. i have have tried so many things. could it be my pvc system at idle? i guess it could if the valve is completly messed....?

 

You might want to make sure there aren't any parts of your old gasket on there. My B18B oil pan gasket had these metal washer inserts in two of the holes on the tranny side, and when I pulled the old one off to replace it, one of those washers stayed stuck to the block and I didn't notice it when I put the new gasket over it. Needless to say it leaked like a mother when I started the car up.

they are in the gasket. they are not a seperate item

yeah, They are there alright, I almost made that mistake too.


I welded the bung for the oil return in and ended up with a pinhole in the top where it was hard to get to. When the car was off and the oil was full past that pinhole it would leak. Drove me nutz, so I put a new pan on with AN fittings. No more leak.

 

I had teh same problem, probably the pan isnt perfectly level, after 2 gaskets and the amount of time to do that I bought a moroso oil pan. Didnt leek again

 

its real easy to over tighten the oil pan and spilt the gasket I used to do it alot
I don't think its the breather system I'm running 20lbs out off a gt30 with a stock breather and have no problems

 

Be sure you don't over tq any bolts it will leak if so.....

 

Yah Im with ^^^^ check to see you didnt leave any of the little metal inserts from the old gasket. that is proably what the problem is.
