Moroso oil pan problem...

Moroso oil pan problem...
I have to ask some of you whom have moroso oil pan on B series motor. Do you have leakage problem from the oil pan gasket? I took mine off three time this week to fix the problem and I have notice a few things. Honda bond is applied on both side of the gasket ( good amount of it). Oil is dripping little by little throught the studs and nuts moroso supplied which is the first problem. Second problem was because moroso is not like stock oil pan that has bolt holes with two bumps next to it that hold the gasket better in place, the gasket is squeeze out of the pan quite a large portion ( enough that you can see one of the holes of the gasket from outside the pan). I have to address that the bolt is not even tight to squeeze the gasket out. Does anyone have a solution. My solution is put more honda bond on it see if it leak tomorrow.

yeah, i have been having the same problems you have mentioned. what i did was to slowly tighten down the pan in a anti-clockwise direction. it took maybe four-five revolutions, but it did prevent the gasket from squeezing out too much. after driving the car for a week or so go back and retighten the nuts.

You may have put too much hondabond on it. Put a really thin glaze on the rim of the oil pan and then put the gasket on top...then do the same glaze to the top of it. Put it on your block, then slowly tighten the nuts starting from the middle and crisscrossing your way to the outside. You want to slowly tighten it starting with handtight..if you get it too tight then the gasket will bulge and it WILL leak.

I did exactly the suggested procedure as the manual said so and also what you just mentioned. The reason I applied honda bond on the gasket and outer rim of the pan is because the oil is seeping through the studs and nuts. As for don't over tighting, I didn't. Like I post previously, there is no dual bumps that hold the gasket in place very well compare to stock. You can just tighten alittle bit and the gasket will sqeeze out a bit. I had three other occurance before with other integras regarding the gasket sticking out but non leaked like this one does. BTW, it's hard to tell where EXACTLY it's leaking from but I know the studs got to go.

Try to use as little HondaBond as possible, close to none....do you notice that the stock gasket has little or none on it?? HondaBond makes the gasket more slippery and thats why it pops out on you.

doesnt matter, once the gasket is popped out its ruined. Why do people put gaskets on gaskets?? Thats basically what your doing. HondaBond is a liquid gasket.

That is true. Did you do that to your moroso? You should look at this thing, without hondabond, it's going to leak for sure because I did that the first time with no honda bond.

I dont personally have one but I have put them on before. You just have to make sure that both surfaces are clean and DRY...no oil what so ever. Brake clean and wipe everything dry. Then tighten each bolt in a crisscross pattern...not to tight to bulge the gasket out. Torque specs are only 9ft-lbs on those little bolts. Do that and it should work...oh yeah, go buy a new gasket. Dont even think about using the old one again. Yup..Sophal

I have spend total of 3 new gasket in one week. I used brake cleaner also. Well, I put in the oil and start again and if it leak again, no more moroso. BTW, oilpan is not that hard to put it on and I know if I put it on wrong. Just want to know if others had the same problem, maybe they didn't even notice a leak like this. Leak even more while finishing boosting on the road.

my oil pan is leaking too, after installing my turbo install. I bought a new gasket from pep boys. fel pro. So, is it better to use any sort of liquid gasket or is it better not to use any. I have some red silicone stuff.

Re: Moroso oil pan problem... ([Evo]Hybrid)
I never had a single problem with my moroso pan... I simply chucked the studs that came w/ the pan and used the stock bolts. I installed mine under the car and didn't have a problem.. Just clean off the surface of the block, apply liquid gasket to the stock oil pan gasket and stick it to the bottom of the block. Then I popped on the oil pan and torqued it down in a criss cross pattern and voila. Yes, the gasket does smoosh out a little, but there's nothing you can do about that.. I threw oil in and drove it right away. Not a drop of oil yet..
