Default B18 turbo build?

I have a B18C1 that I just bought and I want to send the head out to get Ported & Polished. But some to told me that i should get a B16 head because it is better then the GSR head. Is this true?
I what do i need to do to the motor to support 550hp? Any setup suggestions.

Keep the head that you have. For 550whp, a Port and polish is not even necessary at all. concentrate on the internals of the head, Springs, retainers, and valves. That should be it. There are plenty fo high hp cars that don't have to change VTEC heads for any reason.

sleeved block, stock or 84mm bore. port the head anyway if you can afford it. along w/ the other head ideas from the above posts. pistons/rods. eagle rods are pretty cheap, wiseco pistons. and then its all up to the turbo. 550whp = anything 60-1 or bigger really.

strong clutch
fuel setup
turbo big enough
nice manifold / downpipe / exhaust setup
Springs/Retainors
Rods/Pistons/Sleeves

On a 2.0 LSvtec I easily made that power but ended up floating the intake valves because I used OEM itr springs/retainors (only revvin to 7800). Main thing is, get nice springs/retainors, stock bottomend, strong clutch.

All these above ideas are great, still I have found that in 99.9% of the situations of the engines that I've had built, I've found that there is only a 20 cfm difference b/w porting/polishing the head, and just a good clean up with new valve seals, springs, retainers, good keepers, and decent tuning. If you feel you must have the need to PnP, by all means, go right ahead. Mileage does not determine that need however. Since the average PnP is an additional $400 or so, for the extra money for 20cfm, I have found it almost not worth it at all from my experience.
