Need help with EDM LHD Power Window install
I am having trouble installing EDM power windows into my CRX. I bought the EDM LHD switches, regulators, and door panels on ebay. I also bought a Power Mirror and Window wiring harness on ebay from a guy in New Zealand that is supposed to be plug right into the fuse box under the dash.
So far I have installed the new regulators and switches. I have run the new wiring harness through the doors and pluged it into the switches. I have also plugged the connectors into the fuse box where I was told they need to go and connected thr ground wires. But I can't seem to get it to work.
I will show some pictures:
Below is a picture of the regulator installed on the door.

Below is a picture of the end of the wiring harness that is under the driver side dashboard. From this picture, there are 6 connections. 3 of them (the 2 black and 1 brown wires) are grounds, and the other 3 are supposed to connect to the fuse box. The white wire is a battery feed and is supposed to go into the slot of the fuse box where there is constant power. The other two connections with IGN written on them in marker are supposed to go into the slots where there is only power when the ignition is turned on with the key.

The picture below shows the spot where I have been connecting the three grounds. Do you think this is the best spot to put a ground and is it okay to put all three grounds together in this spot?

The picture below shows the underdash fuse box. The arrow on the right is the source of constant power. I have been plugging the white battery feed into this slot. The arrow on the left has power only when the ignition is on. I have one of the IGN connectors going into here.

The picture below shows two more slots on the upper part of the underdash fuse box. The arrow shows a source of power when the ignition is on. I have the other IGN connector going into there.

From what I told you here, can you think of anything I am doing wrong? I am not the best with electrical, which is why I got that wiring harness in the first place. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Here, I'll link you to the wiring diagrams and service manuals.

Thanks, that was helpful. Today I read up in the service manual how to test the motors by connecting jumper cables from the battery. I was able to move the regulator up and down and put in the windows.
I might just take out that wiring harness I bought and just try to do it on my own following the wiring diagram in the manual. I do have the original EDM harnesses that were in the doors. So I guess I just have to worry about the wiring under the dash.

Because the wiring under the dash is originally incorporated in just about everything, it will be a bitch.
I went to home depot, and got a 4-lead garden power cable. Oh, I did not use the relay, and I wired the windows up to the main power, so I can use them with my ignition off.

Okay, yeah it sounds like it would be a lot simpler without using a relay.
Today I started getting the EDM door wiring harness ready. I took out the two speaker wires and the three power mirror wires from the driver side harness. I figure the less wires in there the easier it will be for me. I will just reuse the two original speaker wires. Below are the mirror and speaker wires i took out:

So, I am left with this for the driver side wiring that's going in the door:

There are five wires that will go through the driver's side door.
(1) Black wire is a ground.
(2) White/yellow wire which is for the driver's switch.
(3) Blue/yellow wire is for passenger switch.
(4) Blue/green wire is for passenger switch.
(5) Blue/black wire - I think this is the main wire for the passenger side.
Below is the wiring harness for the passenger side door. I have not taken out the power window and speaker wires yet but I will.

On the passenger side, there will be three wires going through the door.
(1) Blue/yellow wire is for passenger switch
(2) Blue/green wire is for passenger switch
(3) Blue/black wire - I think this is the main wire for the passenger side.
I was looking at this wiring diagram:

I am trying to think the best way to connect the driver and passenger sides together and to the power source. One way I was thinking of is to first connect the Blue/Green wire on the passenger side with the Blue/Green wire on the driver side, and connect the Blue/yellow wire on the passenger side with the Blue/yellow wire on the driver side. Then there are five wires only. The Black ground wire goes to that spot I showed in the first message. Then the other 4 go into the 4-lead power cable that I will buy. Then I just plug that power cable into the spare constant power source in the fuse box shown in my first message. Will that work?
Another option is to connect two 20A fuses like is shown in the wiring diagram. In the wiring diagram it looks like the Blue/Yellow wire and the Blue/Green wire merge into the Blue/Black wire. So then after those three wires are connected, I connect that to a 20A fuse. Then I also connect the White/yellow wire to a 20A fuse. These the two wires (the Blue/Black and White/Yellow) go into the 2-lead power cable that I will buy. Then I just plug that power cable into the spare constant power source in the fuse box shown in my first message. Will this work and is this the best way to do this?

to make it work you must ground it to something more substancial. i tried on the inner part of the door and no luck. i srun a wire through the door loom and connected it to the door hinge.
Okay, yeah maybe you are right. I will try to put the grounds some place else and see if that works.
In the mean time, I am still thinking about taking that harness out and doing it on my own. I was looking at the wiring diagram and I think I answered my own question. The Blue/Yellow and Blue/Green wires from the passenger and driver sides just connect to each other.
So then I just have the black ground wire, the Blue/Black wire, and the White yellow wire. I will of course put the black ground wire to the best ground I can find. Then I am planning on connecting the Blue/Black and Whit/yellow wires to 20A fuses. Then I will just connect them to the those spare power sources in the fuse box under the dash. Below is a picture of what I am planning on doing. Does this look right?

I am pretty sure that the mock up in the picure above is right. I tested the driver side, and it works great. It powers up and down. Even the auto down works. I should have it all done in a day and will post some more pictures.
I finished up with the wiring. The power windows are working good now. I took some pictures while I was working.
Below is a picture of the wiring going through the driver side door jam. I had seven wires going through the door jam, the 5 wires for the power windows and the 2 speaker wires. I had to add my own wires to the driver side power window harness so that it would extend through the door jam and onward to under my dash.

The picture below is the passenger side. There are 5 wires going through the door jam, 3 wires for the power windows and 2 speaker wires. I covered up all the wiring the that plastic tubing. I then ran the 3 wires for the power windows all the way accross the dash to right under the steering column near the dash fuse box.

Below is where i connected everything under the dash near the fuse box. I just followed the mock up I had showed earlier.
(1.) Driver side Black wire connects to ground under dash near hood release.
(2.) Driver side Blue/Yellow wire connects to Passenger side Blue/Yellow wire.
(3.) Driver side Blue/Green wire connects to Passenger side Blue/Green wire.
(4.) Driver side White/Yellow wire connects to 20A Fuse which connects to power
(5.) Driver side Blue/Black wire connects to Passenger Side Blue Black wire and then connects to 20A fuse which connects to power

Here is how it looks after I have the wiring all covered up.

In this picture below, I have hung up all of the wiring with twist ties so it looks neat. Also, you can see where the power wire plugs into the fuse box. I decided to plug it into the constant power source, which is located on the far right of that group of three optional slots in the dash fuse box. I like having it plugged into the constant source, so that I can power up and down the windows even when the keys aren't in the ignition.

I am in the process of putting the interior back together now. I have got the passenger side door panel on. I did have a hard time getting it on, because the clips did not seem to want to go in. Perhaps the clips for the EDM door panel are too big for the holes in the USDM CRX door. I am going to take a trip to the junkyard to pick up some other clips to try.
Also, I noticed that when I power up the window on the driver side, there is a little too much vibration when it starts powering up. I am not sure what is causing it. Even my seat shakes a little. I tried adding more grease to the regulator, but that didnt help. So, I am still trying to figure out what's going on with that.
