Default Cam Gear Issue

I have an 89 Si hatchback that I just bought from an old friend. trying to finish it up and get it running. I couldn't get the timing belt on the thing for the life of me. It looks a lil short, even with the tensioner lossend all the way.
However, I was curious about this cam gear. I don't think any D16A6's came with this sprocket. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is one for a D16Y8, because that's what it looks like to me.

It's another extra car. I was thinking that it couldn't be an A6 gear

Yep, Y8 sprocket. The timing belt should fit, the sprockets are the same size (I checked when I did my mini-me). Still, they aren't marked the same I'm pretty sure, you should get the right one.

Haha I didn't even catch that! If you need a A6 cam gear, I have 2 or 3 lying around...

I'll PM you about that. I went and bought a Y8 Belt thinking that would solve it, but to no avail. I need an A6 Sprocket. I'm going to ask one of my buddies if he has a free one I can scrounge up.

I just got the car. I was wondering why it was painted also. I'm going to have to go ahead and get a A6 gear

Ah, the Y8 belt is too short. I don't remember the exact tooth count, but I kknow when you do a mini-me the A6 belt is 3 or 4 teeth too long.

You're right I can't remember where I saw a list of the difference in belt tooth counts. I did A D15B7/Z6 mini Me earler this year.
