Default gsr pistons in b16?

did a search didnt quite find what i was looking for......if i use the crank...rods....pistons will the compression stay the same i need new rings in my b16 and my friend has a complete bottom end and i was just wondering if i could use all this in my b16? (the reason he is parting this out is because he was in a crash and ripped out the engine mounts and cracked that side of block.. but everything is still good)

thanx in advance

You can use the pistons, but the crank and rods will be devastating.

the crank and rods will leave the piston sticking out above the top of the deck by about 1/4", not good.

the gsr pistons are lower dome volume IIRC so will result in a lower compression if you swap only the pistons.

yeah if you used all of that the tops of the pistons would stick out of the bore (cant remember if its 8 or 12 mm) (its late here) it wouldnt be davastating to anything as you could not bolt the head on the block if the engine was at TDC lol
now the pistons alone will work but will leave you with a 9.4:1 or 8.9:1 comp ratio depending on which p72 piston was used and which head was used it will be 9.12 or 9.67 with the GSR head.. lol good for boost that is with a stock head gasket and stock bore

u can mix it up. find a LS block, use the gsr crank and rods with the b16 pistons. you have a poor mans type r

i thought that was an LS-vtec.

and i thought gsr block, gsr crank, gsr rods, any stock piston with nice compression(p30, p73) and b16 head was a poor mans R

When you put the b16 pistons into a b18 do you have to get special piston rings or anything, or is it a direct fit?

should be the same since they're both 81mm

LS/Vtec is LS block with Vtec head; i.e. GSR, B16...
