225/45/17 too big for a 95 CX?
Rims are universal 4 lug, don't know the offset 17x7. If they rub a bit its ok. I am currently on 13s with all season rubber... kinda lame.
I can't say for sure if they will rub or not but this website might be useful http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html
-on the left size of the page you will see two boxes Tire A and Tire B, input the sizes and then click on the "Compare Tire A to Tire B" radio button below the boxes then click the submit button below all that.
now I assume your stock cx tire size is 165/70/13, and comparing it to 225/45/17 the website shows the 17's will be 24.97in compared to 22.09in stock overall width. The 17's will be 8.86in wide. Also at 70mph your speedo will show 62mph, so you will be actually going faster than what your spedo says.
So even if the above measurements fit in your wheel well, they will still throw off your speedo. If you want to keep the rims, sell the tires and buy 215/30/17 inch tires. they will keep your speedo almost perfect (your speedo will read 70.05 when you are actualy going 70)
hope this helps and isn't confusing

just keep the rims and put 215/40/17 tires on those bad boys..
it will work and won't rub that's the set i have for the summer... it depends on the tire brand really.. some tire brands have a wider foot print (the portion on the tire that makes contact with the road)
than others.. so bust out with a mm ruler and you'll see for yourself..
for example....
some tires claim to be 215
one goodyears 215 tire is only 180mm on the footprint while
one yokohama 215 could have 205 mm footprint etc. etc..
it just depends on the foot printand this will be the difference if they rub or not..

Yes thanks. The tires are free so I think I will just run them. Thanks for the info, it was exactly what I was looking for.
