Proper way to align a door?
Any tips? i gtta replace my door due to someone hittin mine.
So lemme get this straight.
take fender off, remove the 4 door hinge bolts, take door out.
have friend hold new door in place, and but bolts in, but not snug. And then how do u align it? Or is it something thats self explanatory when i look at it?
Or is there a trick to it?

proper way is to have a jack underneath the door and lift it with the jack into position. then you just adjust fitment as you go. this is from my helms manual.
I just took my driver side door off yesterday, and will be doing the same to my passenger side. they way I did it was I took the door off from the mounts, I didn't take off the fender. The bolts that actually connect the mount to the door, not the mount to the chassis. Then you pop that little pin out that stops the door from swinging out to far. I just held the door back into place and had my wife screw in one of the bolts back into the door through the mount, put the rest of the bolts in myself, and put the pin back in. Now the door shuts fine and looks good. I have an EH2 hatch by the way, should be the same for ek's or dc's or whatever. I would think pretty much any model car.

true, if you dont want paint on the bottom of your door. just get a friend to hold it for you, and just open and close it till it lines up right.

err... common sense would say place a towel or some sort of cushion so that doesn't happen.

proper way? okay, then explain the difference to me. when utilizing a jack, i take it you would obviously have to stabilize the door in some way correct? you know, to keep it from falling off the jack into your car, to keep it centered and such, right? so, basically, you're simply using the jack to assist in hoisting up the door right? well, explain the difference with, instead of using the jack to hoist, i use my arms? and to stabilize the doors, i use the same tools you guys who do this "the proper way" do... my arms as well. explain the difference to me because i'm not seeing it.
