Default PLEASE HELP...EMERGENCY

Hi guys...its my first post in this forum. I am getting a 2000 honda s2000 this friday. But suddenly I thought about a problem. When I went to test drive the car...everything was just perfect. only 43000 miles on it. and I get it for 17k. the only thing is the steering wheel is not straight, but when I test drive the car, I released my hands off the steering wheel, the alightment was perfect. I checked carfax, the car did not have any accident at all...everything was just perfect. What kind of problem would cause the steering wheel not straight. let's say straight steering wheel is like 12 o'clock direction. this car steering wheel is like 11 o'clock direction. but no accident and alightment was really really perfect.

Just as an FYI, I've seen cars come from a fresh alignment and the wheel was off i.e. not 12 0 clock. I'd have someone check the hard components and etc. just to be safe.

Accidents only show off on carfax when reported to insurance.

Also if the alignment was done with the steering wheel crooked that could be it as well.

Pickup and an OEM service manual and fix it yourself. It's just two 10mm bolts at the joint right before the steering rack.

that depends, if the steering wheel is not straight because of some bent/damaged suspension/frame, that will cost alot more than just a offcenter steering wheel.

Sometimes not even then!

Carfax is BULLSHIT. My 00EK had been involved in 3 accidents with one resulting in total loss, broken into once and had one comprehensive repair done.

A year and half after he went to car heaven I pulled a carfax on it out of curiousity.

CLEAN! lol.

I can attest to CARFAX's inability to recieve and provide ALL info on all cars. CARFAXs help when purchasing a car, but never rest all your weight on the results of their report.

RE: the steering wheel issue, I have seen this before and like the others state, it is more than likely an issue where the steering wheel was not set at 12oclock when the alignment was done. Tell the dealership you are buying the car from that this is a concern for you and you like to have the car taken to an alignment shop before the purchase or you'd like to have them correct this for you.

Either request should be accepted by the seller.

It's more likely that the steering wasn't centered when they put it back together after a clutch job. Ask me how I know this
