Default D15B VTEC into 92 VX---Searched

Im thinking about doing a d15b vtec swap and tranny.

i havent found much about this swap.

I was wondering if my axles and wire harness will work with this motor. I also will have a p28 ECu with it.

Thanks in advanced and Ill continue searching to see if I can find anything on it. I need to know ASAP cuz I dont have a car right now. Thanks

I'm far from a d-series swap expert but here's what I remember...

the stock axles should work fine

the VX wire harness should work fine as well, all though you will have to re-pin the O2 connector and leave the EGR stuff hang.

The stock axles will work even with the d15b LSD tranny also.

From what ive been finding I think they should. I think this is like a JDM d16z6 if im not mistaken.

i did the swap in my 93 CX. the axles worked fine and the harness is fine. in a VX, u should be prewired for vtec so that not an issue. as far as ECU, ur p28 will work but i recomend using a p08 (jdm d15b ECU) or having ur p28 chipped to p08 specs. all in all it is a simple D swap just like the other Ds. before you do the swap tho read up on some upgrades that u can do to the engine. no d-series pistons will fit the engine..... unless u plan on boosting it and if so, the only pistons to fit it are the vitara pistons. do some searching and youl see what i am talking about

yeah...it looks like z6 and y8 stuff will fit for the head and d15 parts for the block. So it kinda sucks on the block part of it but it should be a step up from a high mileage d15z1 and d15z1 tranny IMO.

I also read that someone ran like 14.6 in the 1/4 with a stock d15b vtec. Is that accurate??? If so sweet cuz i run 18.1 in my d15z1

Also When I go to like prostreetonline.com they list a bunch of pistons for a d15b. Why cant I use those for instance??

14.6 on a stock D15B??? I highly doubt it.
15.6 is more likely.

you do realize that a vx with a d15b has nearly the same power/weight ratio as a gsr, right?

only problem is the 5wire o2 sensor to 4wire o2 sensor. easy to figure out if you use your head (Read: follow the wires)

you will DEFINITELY want to use the d15b tranny.

my d15b arrived today (yes im posting this everywhere because i am a attention ***** who can't get it up)

superior r/s ratio. PMS pistons from the d17a7 bump up the compression to 10.8 with a y8 headgasket. i started this build but after 2 months of waiting for pistons I said the hell with it.

Ill live with low 15s. haha

aslo for like a stage 2 clutch in a d15b tranny. Could I just get like a clutch for a d16z6(si) tranny since they are almost identical or what??

yes a d15b is a slow motor to put in and im proof of it. im running an NA D15B into the 14.5 with consistant 14.6s. but i guess i can blame it on me having a DX body and not a VX...ok i kid. this is an awesome motor. dont listen to them.

depending on what you want to do theres ways to get there. for allmotor, you can go like me with the PMS pistons from a civicGX(2001+) bumping cr from 9.6 to 10.8. you can also do the vitara pistons for lower compression turbos, but i think the stock 9.6 is ok.

for repairs, threat the D15B block as a VX and the head as a EX/SI.

the motor will swap perfectly into your chassis and im thinking no need to change wires. if your using a P28 the ECU will only look for the 4 wires it needs and regard 5th that the VX comes with. if you need help on wiring the pin locations can be found in the stickies, im not sure what else youll have to do.

i remember when i still had my d15z1 in my VX.. ahh those were the days.. couldnt even make it up hills in 4th gear so I had to floor it in 3rd jus to barely keep my speed constant.
