Default Problem @ 3500 rpms. Need some help. VIDEO inside.

Hey guys. I just got my z6 up and running in my rex, but when I took it out for a spin, it wouldn't drive past 3500rpms. Drive is emphasized b/c it has no problems reving up past 3500 while in nuetral. Only when it's in gear, i.e. driving.

I was throwing a couple codes, but after checking over my dizzy wiring(and finding/fixing one loose pin in one connecter), they all went away... :S I don't get it.

Video. Click here.

Video is in 3rd gear.
When I shift(ed) to second, my engine light came on. (doesn't come on when trying to check codes(no codes being thrown), or in first gear, only when i shift to second and up.)
It hit the 'mark' and I pushed the clutch in, then revved up and let the clutch out just under the 'mark'. basically the motor shakes back and forth, and will NOT let you speed up past that 3500rpms.
It's like when you bog it at low RPM's ... the motor rocking back and forth.

I'm going to replace the IACV today (one of the codes thrown), just to get that out of the way. I'm going to drive it tomorrow morning and see if it's still happening, as I have yet to test it since the codes stopped blinking at me.

Current setup:
d16z6
boomslang ecu harness
virgin p28 ecu
re-soldered dizzy adapter wires
z6 dizzy

Anybody know whats up?
Thanks

-Andrew

Sounds like you're in limp mode, check ecu connections, Distributor coil, Reset ecu...

yup limp mode. reset the ecu and take it for a spin, if it comes back on, then check for codes.

allrighty then. thanks fellas.
I can reset the ecu by 1. pulling the Hazard fuse for 10 sec or 2. by pulling the backup light fuse for like 10 min....... right?? is that the same thing?

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Better Video

I've reset the ECU and checked the wiring to it. I see no problems.
Still cutting off power/fuel @ 3500 rpm's, as clearly seen in the video.

Since the video(20 min ago), it's now raining 1-2" per/hr.... Thanks Florida.....
so thats all the work I'm gonna be doing probably for today. Hopefully those videos will help.

Lets get some more comments. Is it o.k. for me to be driving it in 'limp' mode?

Thanks
-Andrew

I had the same problem two weeks ago. I couldn't rev past 4k, check engine light was also on but, when I tried to pull the codes nothing showed up. I also had a bad idle so I checked all my hoses, wires, fuses and then all of a sudden the cel went away, my idle is normal, I can rev-up to (close never do) redline. I disconnected then reconnected my vacuum lines, ground wires, pulled then reinstalled all my fuses. not sure if this will help you out but, that's what I did but, if you can pull what ever codes it's throwing start there first. good luck.

Settle down Johnny Kimpo.
I took the video on the way to the gas station.

Started out with 1/8th tank, left with almost full. like 7/8's.
