Default exhaust w/out intake

I just installed a 2.5 inch catback and exhaust. but i don't have an intake yet.
will that hurt the engine? What type of intake should i get? is the stock intake sufficient or do i necessarily need a intake? any help would be great appreciated

Jim

It won't "hurt" the engine...but you could pick up a couple whp throughout the RPM range with an aftermarket intake. I would recommend stock intake elbow, Comptech Icebox, and K&N E-2427, which will cost about $220. If you have money to spend ($650+), then Mugen and Arc make good intakes as well.

Well, I'll leave the details to the R owners, but general rule is that you want to make the car breathe better, so only getting an exhaust will not harm the car, but it will not be functioning at its best without the addition of an intake and an aftermarket header. Bear in mind that the stock system is great, but you want to allow it to be able to take in more air as well as get rid of it. You already took care of the getting rid of it part, now you could get an intake to take in more air.

No, it won't hurt the engine in any way. You just gonna have a less restrictive flow in the exhaust which is going to give you a different tone and noise level and a better throtle response at high rpm (little punch).
Yes, it is better to install an intake with better flow characteristics to take more advantage of the new exhaust. Of course, a good header will complete the set alltogether with a FPR and tuning if it is in your budget and you will have a totally different car.
I would recommend a Comptech IceBox and intake with the blue thang!

Good luck!

Eric

like those above have said... your not going to hurt anything and the comptech icebox is ok, but the stock itr intake is very good as is. it pulls from inside the fender just as the icebox does just higher up. only the inlet hole on the icebox is larger which is why you get some gains. you'll be fine with what you have
