Default Back to the D?

How difficult would it be to go from my b18a back to a d series? I bought my car with the swap so I dont know what was involved in putting it in. For a long time i was just going to pinch my pennies for a 1st gen b16 but the d would be cheaper and I'm not really looking to pull 10s at the track. Let me know what you think.

if the LS motor is in there. Keep it. It's already got the mounts, linkage, ecu so stick with what you got. I wouldn't go back for Daily Driving use. Plus if your LS goes out. You can usually find a longblock with necent miles for cheap.

Nothing is wrong with the b as far as the motor goes. I misshifted one time to 8300 and it had quite the tick after that but I adjusted the valve lash and did a comp test and it quieted down and the test was good. The tranny is pretty shitty with the syncros out in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. The only other concern I have is the miles on it, 145k. When I go turbo I don't really want to blow it up (the track is about 2.5 hours away).

There is nothing wrong with boosting a high milelage motor...Just get yourself a different ls tranny these are pretty cheap since most people want the b16 trannys..I dont know of anyone who would step down to a weaker motor to turbo it...

I second that. The fact of the matter is that the B18A is on a par with D-series motors as far as price, but the performance potential is SO much greater. So if you have some sort of fantasy of making a killing by selling your LS, and using that to finance some mega-HP turbo-D setup, forget about it. Just turbo your LS instead. Contrary to what the rather outspoken D-series crowd might say, you WON'T do better with a turbo-D than a turbo LS. And as far as miles, do you REALLY think you are going to easily find a D with fewer miles? All of these motors are pretty old these days. So they ALL have high miles.

I got my b18b for $150 locally. Just keep your eyes open. I sold my B16 for $600 with ARP head studs and all new maintenance parts installed. I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on a b16 tranny for my ls.

Pulling it would be something you regret and Hondas and 10s well it's a lofty goal.

Well the time in my sig is with a totally stock motor, no lsd, stock cluch, stock flywheel, and a big factor was the driver (me). I am also pretty sure the watter pump is going bad too. It gets pretty hot when it sits but when I start to drive it the temp goes back down.
