Can't remove rear tires on '96 Civic DX
I've never changed a tire before the other day when I went to change my tires on my 96 Civic DX Sedan. I was successful with the front two (I was replacing my current wheels and tires with new wheels and tires of the same size).
However, when I removed the lug nuts from the back wheels, the tires would not budge. I tried taking off the parking brake, but quickly put it back on when that didn't do anything.
Is there an additional step involved in removing the rear tires? It sort of feels like something has them locked onto the axle. Please help!

some times they seize to the drum.. kick the very top or very bottom of the tire hard..

usually the tire likes to attach itself to the drum so just give it a little muscle, you can lightly kick the bottom of the tire while its off the ground (just enough to lossen it) and it'll usually just pop right off, be ready to catch it.

screw a lugnut on sort of loose, then tap the backside of the tire on the bottom until it comes loose, i do this all the time at work

SPRAY SOME WD40 ON THE DRUM BRAKE, CHANCES ARE IS THAT SCINCE THE WHEELS HAVE NEVER BEEN CAHNGED OR ROTATED, THE HAVE PROBABLY RUSTED SHUT AGAINST THE DRUM BRAKE. USE THAT AND A RUBBER MALLET AND HIT AGAINST THE WHEEL.

Don't kick it hard, but you need to give it some help. Happened to mine once, it wasn't on there all that way.. I just pulled it off.

I work in a tire shop and see this happen...more than once daily, just kick the top/bottom of the tire progressivley harder until it comes off. No, you won't damage anything by doing it unless you somehow manage to kick it off the jack/jackstands.
You can also kick from the back if kicking from the outside top/bottom fails to work. Not a huge problem...just something that happens over time. Oh and be ready to catch your tire/wheel
you can put the top most lugnut on semi-loose and then go to town with the kicking if you don't feel like catching your tire/wheel combo.
Hope it helps
