My Civic has been parked for about 2 months due to it just shutting off. I was on my way home from work and suddenly the car started to sputter and then died. Lots of gas but it just tries to crank over but nothing. I originally thought it was my timing belt but I checked. I had my brother turn the car over while I look down into the oil cap and I can see the cam moving. It was rotating. I figured that it would not move if it wasn't. Now what? My cousin is a great mechanic but he lives far. He also told me to check the fuwl pump by having someone turn the car on with the key and then listen to the fuel pump "humm" through the gas tank without the cap on.Nothing. I also thought it may be a fuel filter. Haven't checked it. Don't know how.

Can some one help?

There is spark. THe engine also sometimes turns over briefly then dies.
