Default Need HELP ASAP!!! 1987 honda civic Troublez

Hello! the name is kory! i am having some trouble with my car:

1987 honda civic
1.5 L D15 carburated
4 dr sedan
4 cyl.

i was driving one day and all of a sudden it started sputtering, like it was out of gas. i was quick to realize that i still had 1/2 tank left lol. it sounded like something was hitting up against a surface on my side of the car. then my car gave out. from then on, my car would just crank, but never start.

i thought at first it was either faulty sparkplugs, faulty distributor or distributor cap, or fuel pump.......but now im not sure.

i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be anything from a broken fuel pump/clogged fuel filter to a broken timing belt.

Is there fuel in the carb? If there is, then the fuel pump and filter are probably OK.

Is their spark? Then the ignition is OK.

When was the timing belt last changed?

well we replaced the fuel pump and its still not starting. the timing belt seems fine also but will check just to make sure. not sure when the last time the timing belt was replaced.

my friend said that there was no spark.....and i replaced the distributor cap and ignotion rotor inside the cap a few days ago and that did nothing.

could it be distributor? anything with ignition?

If you continue to not get any spark then I would say your problmem is ignition related. I would get your coil tested to see if it still has enough "juice" to create enough spark. You can get the coil tested at any Autozone, Kragen Autoparts etc. For example, my car wouldn't start even though I was receiving spark. The problem was the spark was not strong enough. It turned out that the coil needed replacing.
