Default D16Z6 and supercharger for $500!!!

I work with a guy who has a friend that somewhat recently swapped the motor from his 93 Si to a B18. He informed me today that his friend is selling the motor and stuff and so I called the guy up. He has the motor and said he also has a JRSC without a pulley kit, it was never ran on the car, but he would sell the whole combo for $500. This is the big break I need to finally get a motor!

The motor had 120,000 on it when they pulled it out of the car. The guy took care of the motor (on time oil changes, etc) but also sort of drove it kind of hard. It smoked a little bit when they pulled it. And the SC is intake except a pulley kit.

I was thinking of buying them and rebuilding the bottom end of the motor in order to run some boost.

What do you guys think?

Nothing is wrong with it. The motor was driven a little rough during its days but I guess it only smokes a little. The guy just wants to get rid of it all. I am going to get the stuff...

I was wondering though... What would be a good setup for the bottom end of the motor. I don't wanna spend $1000 on low comp pistons and all that junk so I can run tons of boost. I just wanna use somewhat stock stuff and run some boost to add to the power.

So if there are any combonations that you guys know of which use lower compression pistons from another motor that would fit in this motor to run a little more boost safely that would be rad!

I have heard they can hold 8 psi stock? Is this true?

Any input on what to do with the bottom end would be helpful, I don't wanna pour too much money into it though. I work at an auto parts store, that might help save.

Thanks!

i wouldent run 8 psi stock. i would run like 6 psi on a stock motor. but u can get some good pistons for about 300-400 bucks and then u can jack the boost up to like 10 psi. or higher if u would like to. remember tuning is everything. it may seem exspensive but in the long run it is way cheaper.

if you use a cometic headgasket and some decent tuning you can run 8 psi safely

edit: the headgasket is just for peace of mind. you can do it without.

I am running 10 psi on a stock A6 and have been for quite some time of course i am tuned and that has alot to do with reliability. Does the SC come with e the idler pulleys and brackets. these might be hard to source.

For $500, he wouldn't have left with that SC in his posession, it would have been sold and in my trunk.
