Rings or Valve Seals bad?
My car has been running like crap the past couple of weeks and I noticed today that there was a lot of smoke blowing out of the valve cover breather, which means blow by. So I did a compression test and #4 was down at about 90, the rest were at 180. So how can I tell if its the piston rings or valve seals that are bad?

Do a leakdown test, but judging form your compression test results, I'd say rings...the cyl that is at 90 psi is hurting.

if the compression goes up after putting in the oil its the rings .</TD></TR></TABLE>
