I tell them i think my 3rd gear synchro might be shot, (bcuz of all the info I have gathered up from H-T and other sources, on the symptoms that my car has) the grinding from 2nd into 3rd gear... and thats only time that it is doing this no other gear is grinding...
Anyway... A Tech takes it for ride to hear the grinding, comes back tells service rep guy that its Possibly the clutch/ spring on the clutch or some kind of **** like that....
I have never seen or heard of someone having this kind of problem like this before??? Can a clutch spring (or whatever with a clutch) cause a grinding problem in ONLY one gear???
Service rep guy tells me they will order new clutch or whatever the **** and come back next Monday for them to start fixing it.
Can someone tell me if this even sounds like this is the problem with my car?? If it is the clutch could I get them to install a clutch that i want???
Any info would be great guys thanks...

I don't think a clutch spring would causes grinding in only one gear.
But look at it this way, it's warrenty, so you get a new clutch free! If that doesn't fix the problem, they still have to do work on it under warrenty. So worst case you get a free new clutch and a new 3rd gear synchro.

Honda released a Technical Service Bulletin about the clutch spring possibly breaking and coming loose. Since then, I think the dealers have been trigger ahppy in using this as a standard diagnosis. I don't know the specifics of your problem, but it could be something different. i would let them rplace the clutch (for free) then when the problem persisits they will have to go into the tranny to check it out. I'm not sure what kind of luck you would have trying to convince them of anything else. Let them find out the hard way.
As far as having the dealer install an amtermarket clutch for you... highly unlikely.

They are probably not going to give you the old clutch.

I could see why they wouldnt want to give up the old ECU, those could be fixed pretty easy I would think... But not letting me have a *possibly* fucked up clutch? why, what could they do with it? wouldnt they want to just trash it??

from what i understand, they send malfuntioning parts like that back to honda for R&D, that way honda can figure out why it broke, and make it so they don't break in future models.

When parts are replaced under warranty, Honda has the option of calling for them within thirty days. The dealer will not give you parts replaced under warranty, they can't. If they don't have a part when Honda calls for it, Honda debits their account for the amount of the part + the labor. And it sounds like your problem is a synchro problem. The clutch spring problem usually appears in all gears and makes it a bitch to get into first and reverse.
