HELP Help help...cant get belt over the gears because of the auto tensioner
a buddy of mine took his cams out to change cam gears. he loosened the tensionor and then slid the belt over and off the cam gears. The motor is a 1995 h22a1 so it has the auto tensionor. with the auto tensionor wouldnt the tensionor push the belt and attempt to take up the slack wen it was removed from the cam gears? so putting the belt on the cam gears again without removing the timing cover and locking the tensionor would be impossible? basically if ive confused u what i am asking is how can he pull the belt back over the cam gears with out popping the timing cover and locking the tensionor off the belt....any help is appreciated...if anyone has any images, haynes or helms pics it would be appreciated...my buddy keeps calling and bugging me he wants to get his car done asap...so i log on to ask for help
thanks
thanks
you cant, even if you did the timing belt would be too tight. plus its really hard to get timed that way. honestly would just be easier for you to take the auto tensioner out
