Default Energy Shifter Bushings

I just put a B&M short shifter in my EK and I used the Energy bushings but I get a lot of vibration noise from the shifter when I'm just cruising. Everything looks tight underneath so I can't figure out what the problem is. Anyone else have this experience?

Vibration is due to the bushings.

Ok yeah I was under that assumption at this point, hence the title of the thread, but my question is whether or not anyone knows how to resolve it.

Switch back to OEM bushings. The ES ones are stiffer, hence less play = more vibration.

Hrm. I have poly bushings in my shifter and don't have any noise.

Well, not anymore. When my **** comes loose, it's noisy. When I had a **** that didn't come with a rubber/pvc boot to fit over the end of the shifter, it was noisy. But for the moment - it's not noisy. Vibrates like a mother, but no noise.

You could check to see if the noise is coming from your **** by removing it temporarily. If the noise is coming from the joints in the shift linkage, you could try tightening them up. If it's coming from the OEM boot (there's a plastic ring up top that rests against the widening width of the shifter), you could replace it with one that mates up to the shift ****.

It's definitely going to vibrate, but if everything's tight then there shouldn't be any noise. The trick is figuring out what's loose & vibrating.
