Can anyone tell me what is going on here. When I get on my car and run it through vtec and through the gears (lets say 2nd and 3rd) my car starts to somewhat sputter. This only happens when I am in vtec though. When my car switches over to Vtec it will cut in and out of vtec, almost like it doesn't have enough oil in my car but I just changed it a week n half ago. I know I need a new air fliter which is going to be purchased asap, but I dont think that would cause this problem. I was thinking maybe my valves need adjusting??? Maybe my spark plugs, but I dont see how that could be possible when none of this happens unless my car is in Vtec. Can anyone give me some input. I know I need to go out and check some things out myself but I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and could tell me right away what it is. If anyone has any questions about my setup just let me know.

Any CEL? i had a problem like that with my R i thought it was the same, low oil pressure causing my car to sputter. Then one day i was under my car working on the headers i noticed the cat was rattling on the inside. Come to find out my cat was clogged, i replaced it and the car felt brand new!!

Has your cap and rotor been changed? May want to replace those maintenance items and see if that fixes the issue.

 

Could be the igniter

 

This could also happen if your oil level is low.

 

Its probably low oil, it was doing the same thing to me a week ago and the oil light wasnt even on, so i changed the oip and all fixed
