Default k23 swap

for anyone new to this amazing motor comming from honda, the new acura rdx suv, this will be honda's 1st turbocharged engine in the US, it will be a 2.3L but it isn't as close to a K as some thing, there is a whole artical in the august SCC and how it won't swap, on the other hand with 260lbtq i think some people will try anyways (hell if i had the money i would)

anyone thinking about it?

i think the bigger question is will hasport make motor mounts for it, they are different from the standard K series, and intop of that doesn't take a standard k seres trans

You can get K20A3 for a decent price, apply a turbo, more then likely will make more power then the K23, and will not ruin your pocket when and if it blows up.

$500? I'd buy it.

yah but what i like about the k23 is the torque, also the way the turbo is valved it has next to no lag. in all honnesty though, i probibly would go with the k24 and swap on a k20 head for toque and power.

K24 bottom ends go for a nice price. Just use any K20 head to make some better power then the K24 head.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Wikipedia &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Some turbochargers (normally called variable geometry turbochargers) utilise a set of vanes in the exhaust housing to maintain a constant gas velocity across the turbine, the same kind of control as used on power plant turbines. These turbochargers have minimal amount of lag, have a low boost threshold, and are very efficient at higher engine speeds. In many setups these turbos don't even need a wastegate. The vanes are controlled by a membrane identical to the one on a wastegate but the level of control required is a bit different. The first production car to use these turbos was the limited-production 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT, equipped with a 2.2L petrol engine. The Shelby CSX-VNT utilised a turbo from Garrett, called the VNT-25 because it uses the same compressor and shaft as the more common Garrett T-25. This type of turbine is called a Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT). Turbocharger manufacturer Aerocharger uses the term 'Variable Area Turbine Nozzle' (VATN) to describe this type of turbine nozzle. Other common terms include Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG), Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) and Variable Vane Turbine (VVT).</TD></TR></TABLE>

wow... don't u feel smart... (no one cares)

doesn't make it any less cool. better deffination of how it works is here though

"The RDX is powered by Acura’s first turbocharged engine. The 2.3-liter 4-cylinder K23A1 engine has all-aluminum construction, an i-VTEC® head, and dual balance shafts. Acura’s variable flow turbocharger reduces turbo lag by using a valve to narrow the intake passage at low rpm, increasing the velocity of the exhaust flow and keeping the turbine spinning rapidly. At higher rpm, the valve opens to allow more exhaust flow for increased boost. The engine also features a top-mounted intercooler which receives air from the grille, channeled by ducting under the hood. The Acura RDX engine is rated at 240 bhp @ 6000 with a torque peak of 260 ft·lbf. @ 4500. The EPA estimated fuel mileage is 19 city and 23 highway miles per gallon."

If speaker were advertising an engine I don't think he would do so unless he were sure it were clean.
