I been seeing alot of people looking toward the net to buy audio gear. There is nonething wrong looking for a looking deal. But alot of the stuff on there is garbage, reconndition, fake or come with no factory support.
The reason and how they are getting there products is that they are buying in gross from authorized dealers. As a dealer the more you sell the more the better incetives you get and prizes and give aways, vaction and such. I fell for the same con. I tried to help out a local shop because he wanted a deal on speakers, So I wholesale 40 mtx subs to him for a hell of a deal, this idiot in turns put them on the ebay. guess what, Mtx buys them back and runs the serial number. I get a call from my rep asking how did he get theses.
. So long story short watch what you buy. Most companies are following suit on what mtx is doing now. Pioneer, alpine, clarion.

naw, but I felt so disrespected. I never felt so low or so mad at the same time, My rep is a cool guy and he understood. I didn't want him to think I was running a scam and was getting a kick back. Because I really wasn't. It seamed like a good business deal. I made money, he made money. Off the sale of speakers . And what pissed me off was that I told him not to. I get hit up once a month to sell volume to thoses ebay azzs, I just tell them to call mtx.
I hate that ****, though thankfully I've never had to deal with it up here.
Though it seems like every other day someone brings me an ebay price to match, purely because they want it today

You have to be careful though because a lot of places on the net CLAIM to be authorized dealers, but if you call the manufacturer they're not
Shady bastards

Speaking of China.
We are also an MTX dealer and have run into the problem of customers coming to us about issues with their MTX subs, and the result has been the same, pissed off customers, what gets me is they get pissed at us for not helping them, even though we point out that the on-line site they got the sub(s) from is not an authorized MTX dealer, we even had one guy go completely ballistic telling us that we had to fix it no matter where he got it because the site he got it from told him to take it to any MTX dealer for warranty.
We finally pulled the sub to find out what the problem was and what it would cost him to have it repaired or replaced, low and behold it was a fake, [made in China] it was supposed to be a Thunder 9500, [12"] it was not, I pulled one of our stock ones out of a box and set it next to his, not even close, even though it had the MTX logo on the cone, the basket was diff. and so was the magnet, and the "back plate" was a paper sticker, he was still pissed, but no longer at us, and he did come back and buy a 7500 from us.
I keep telling people to make sure they by from authorized dealers, in fact I tell them to support their local authorized retail dealers, but as we see here on H/T the price is the bottom line, without any idea of what you are getting for that "great" deal
You really do "get what you pay for".

holly ****,lol lol lol, I installed a supposed to be mtx sub a while back. It was a 4500, Total fake or refurbised. As soon as I powered it up, it blew the dust cover right off. On the back of the dust cover it said product of china, I still have pics I going to find them and post it, I was laughing my *** off but the customer was not, I felt real bad for laughing so hard I gave him a free 4500. He has been one of my best customer since,

If serial numbers have been removed, either the equipment is stolen or it is X stock, recalled or refurbished and numbers are removed so they can't be traced.
And as a_s_ol_ mentioned, there will be no manufactuers warranty on it.

Any product with a missing S/N is asking for trouble. It's more than likely to be a STOLEN product.

if it's missing a serial number, then it is likely stock purchased from an authorized dealer. this is a frequent occurence with JL's product, as it is with Focal, Audison, d/l/s, etc..

I'm starting to loathe ebay. Sold someone a used kenwood screen in perfect working order and he gets it installed and says it doesn't work. I'm probably gonna get screwed because it's a buyer's market

That sucks azzs, I just seen a thread on this.

People have common sence, some just don't know 12 volts electrics, I have plenty of common sence, I know 12volt car audio. That doesn't mean I know 120 v and up. almost same therory but I am not ready to tackel a house, I'll pay some one that knows that they are doing to do it. saves in the long run. Most of car eletronics can be hooked by someone with no experinces. All you have to do in most cases is follow the directions. they are vary detail, Harness comes with directions, radio comes with directions, kit comes with directions. Experinces and selfconfidencs and fear of fubar something, well thats not included. This is were most installs fail.

Once I get it back anyone want a kvt915?

Same rules apply only difference is one is AC the other is DC.
One will shock you the other wont.
Anything over 33V AC or DC is considered high voltage and can shock you.
