Default LOW OIL PRESSURE

heres the story. its b16a2 that was burning oil, changed valve stem seals, got a valve job, milled .002, new rings, new timing belt. fixed the oil burning problem, but now idles low when warm (idle slowly goes up and down between 300-500rpm) and oil light turns on and off. vtec also isn't engaging. Im stumped.

Check your oil level. Maybe your oil pump went out.

oil level is fine and motor has no leaks. would not having the oil pickup gasket cause low oil pressure? i never put one on because i assumed it was still stuck to the bottom of the block. i just hope its not my bearing clearances.

have you checked the oil pressure with gauge? if so, have you checked the oil pressure switch on the back of the motor above the oil filter?

I recommend buying/ borrowing a proper oil pressure gauge, like one a tech would use for diagnosing or atleast the gauge you did buy, make sure its a good one.(not Ractive seen them not very good).

Are you serious? You didn't put a sealing gasket on the thing that delivers oil to your engine because "you assumed it was still there"? Are you retarded?

I'm not even going to make any suggestions because you should know by my tone the first thing you need to do to remedy this situation

relax buddy. i didnt put one on because in most cases it just stays on there, i was just throwing out ideas as to what could be causing my problem. a simple "why dont you drop your pan and see if the gasket is there" would've been nice.

another example of the up comming " Oh **** i screwed something up, help needed" thread..

There is NEVER an assuming or "in most case" scenerio. its either there, or not there, now im not trying to put some fire on ya, but you should have known or think what could have happen. this is not some plastic toy or the TV remote control we disassembly all the time when we're kids, when you missing something or left out with something more than it suppose to be, do it again and check everything.
