Default gross polluter...can someone help?

Here is the diagnostic the emissions station gave me. I also got a pamphlet on what the top ten reasons I failed are. Anyway I failed hydrocarbons and CO but my NOx was fine surprisingly. Any help will be appreciated. I have until November 15th to clean up my act

i would almost say a good tune up oil change and make sure your cat is good. other than that im not sure where i live i dont have to worry about emissions checks. i know id fail horribly if i had to.

HC = unburnt fuel
CO = poorly burnt fuel

Could be's
O2 sensor
Air filter
Tune-up
clogged injectors
fuel pressure

If your HC's are up usually the NOx is down. By the way NOx is caused by high combustion temp above 2500 degrees. The HC's keep the combustion temps down.

If you have an adjustable FPR, or a standalone ECU, you can lean your car out.

Most swapped cars fail because of HC's.

just out of curiousity, why is that? I mean if you're using the same ecu that the engine requires shouldn't run the same as a stock motor?
