Stock 94 HONDA ACCORD- at what rpm does t start to hurt the engine?
i keep seeing that the vtec engages at 5200 rpm... i thought that going past 4000 rpm is harmful for the engine. is it???
if so... what things can be done to make it safer???
thanks

vtec enables at kinda whenever, it's based off of many variables in the car, it just doesn't go "i'm at 5000 rpm time to start!" and doing it all the time can be, but on occassion no it's fine , but redlining every chance you get not awesome
thanks for the info..
in my car when i get to 5200 rpm in 3rd gear it kicks back down to 4700 rpm... then back up like normal... is this normal or is a bad sign like somethings wrong??
thanks

for 5th gen? i don't even know they have variable vtec crossover.
i think the ecm would allow vtec to cross-over when the a set rpm is reached and the check list is a go(oil pressure, temp, vss, etc)

Variables meaning what you listed there, i was kinda of unclear I guess and can see what you're saying. The better way to word it would be to say that after meeting all the conditions necessary it will enable - obviously it wouldn't enable at 2000 rpm which I guess could be intrepretated from my post

It's always been my understanding that the VTEC engagment point on the F22 varies due to certain parameters being met.

I would just like to give an example of what one of my friend's has said, a Acura Tech:
Shad0w K24: redline is another word for "this is where i blow up"
Shad0w K24: thats why they call it the "redline" instead of the "i dont give a crap cross me anyday line"
