Default LS motor in hatch (compression question)

ive been a member here for a few months and ive always had friends with hatches but never had the chance to own one myself, well i have finally got my hands on a 94 dx charcol grey hatch, ive got an LS for it, but the block internals need to be rebuilt, id like to build it all motor no turbo/nos, anybody got a good compression ratio that i should go for? or a short list of block internals would be great im looking to get about 350+ whp at least, and ive got an ok amount of money but not alot, any help is appreciated

The OP is contradicting himself. If you are going all motor, then your best bet is K20, not the lowest powered B series motor, the LS.
Boost is going to be cheaper and it's going to give you more power. I don't see an LS making 350hp+ in NA form

LS will be lucky if it makes over 200 whp in na form

oh ok, i gotcha i guess ill look into low compression with a turbo then for the LS?? rite? i already have the LS motor/tranny but the block internals need replacing on the block and i guess i could go turbo, whats the lowest comression i could go and still drive while i save up for turbo thats my next ??

Yeah get rid of LS tranny, go b16, gsr, or itr. If you look around you'll find out you can just rebuild it with stock internals and still run a fairly good amount of boost, there are several upon several ls motors hitting 300+hp on boost with stock internals...maybe just get some arp's and use the money you save on internals to piece together your turbo kit.

No matter what people tell you, shorter gears always = shorter acceleration, given that you have good traction.

Hrm, which is stronger..the LS or the B16a2? I realize the #'s would sya the B16 but I'm pretty sure the LS hasa longer stroke (better compression) as well as more displacement (more torque)

Same stock hatch/coupe/sedan w/ a B16 vs LS would be interesting to see...

With that asside I think you can make an LS 200whp in N/A form..if you can make a D16Z6 do it, you can make an LS do it...

oh hell yea, ls is a great engine
great torque compared to a b16, but you wouldn't want to make just an LS engine n/a, without the help from your friend vtec
