i dont think the turbo would affect the compression numbers, no idea what LS's ussually do but im sure good compression numbers for a stock ls= good compression numbers for turbo ls. i think that consistency between cylinders is more important.

somone correct if im wrong about the turbo na theory

i guess i'm looking for is where should the compression numbers be around for an ls motor for it to be considered a good motor? i've seen ranges from 150 across up to 200 across the board.

having a turbo on will not affect any compression readings.

Most of the stock GSR's I've checked have been around 215-225..where as LS's tend to fall around 190-200

the Hayne's manual says that the Maximum Compression (psi) is 185 (practically new) and the lowest to be considered healthy is 135 or something like that.... But you can have higher compression than 185 sometimes, like if you have carbon deposits on your cylinder head..

The exact compression numbers will vary from engine to engine. As long as you keep your numbers within a 10% variance, you're fine.

Haynes says for a b18b:
"standard..................199psi"
"Minimum..................140psi"
"max variation between cylinders..........28psi"

B18C1 & B18c5 are the same as above except that the standard is..........270psi
