Default Type r tranny or quaife ls

I have a 94 turbo integra with 214 hp and 183 tq i am going to build the motor more obviosly becasue like most people with cars they are never done or never fast enough. I was wondering what would be better for my car a typr r tranny or a quaife(probably spelled that wrong) ls. Let me know what you guys think

if you're going to be adding more power to your car, go with the quaife lsd

if you have an ls tranny, i would get the whole type r tranny for the shorter gears. but if you already have b16 or gsr tranny just get the LSD

im guessing you have an ls because your only making 214hp with boost.

Really it depends on how fast he will eventually be in the 1/4, if he plans on trapping high 120-130, he will be better off with the GSR Tranny cause at that speed your in 5th gear on an ITR/B16 Tranny. Alot of people seem to have luck with the OEM LSD, my old ITR's Diff did not feel as agressive as my Quaife that I have now, if you got the extra money dish it out for the Quaife, and its warrantied.

Since you said your planning on building the motor, you really only have one option, which is going with the Quaife LSD. The OEM lsd is better than nothing, but it's not as strong/good as the Quaife. Get a B16/ITR tranny if you want the best acceleration. Like the guy before me said, figure out what size tires you will be running, how high you will be revving, etc... then pick your tranny. You should be able to play around with tire size to be able to use the B16 tranny.

Here is the speed comparison between the GSR & B16/USDM ITR redline @ 9500rpm w/ 205/50/15 Tire. You want to stay out of 5th gear obviously while going down the track, A GSR goes 120 in 4th @ 8K and a B16 only goes 112 @ 8K on the 8k Redline

GSR:

1 2 3 4 5

6000 29 49 68 90 118
6500 31 53 74 97 128
7000 34 57 80 105 137
7500 36 61 85 112 147
8000 38 65 91 120 157
8100 39 66 92 121 159
8200 39 67 93 123 161
8300 40 68 94 124 163
8400 40 68 95 126 165
8500 41 69 97 127 167
8600 41 70 98 129 169
8700 42 71 99 130 171
8800 42 72 100 132 173
8900 43 72 101 133 175
9000 43 73 102 135 177
9500 45 77 108 142 187

B16/ITR

1 2 3 4 5

6000 29 44 64 84 109
6500 31 48 69 91 118
7000 34 51 74 98 128

Try that again with big slicks (24.5 or 25) because I'm sure he will be using those with a built turbo motor.

B16 tranny reving to 8500 with 25 inch slick will get you to 129.8mph at the top of 4th. A GSR tranny would get you to 139mph. An LS tranny will get you to 153.4mph.

PM jdms1eeper or turbols and they will tell you why having anything other then a ls tranny on a ls build is not the best. Get the quaife lsd.

As far as gearing goes (shorter to longer)... B16/ITR > GSR > LS.

For high reving vtec motors (8k and up) you will want short gearing, but if you have a low reving LS the longer gears will be a better fit.
